America’s Boating Club Atlanta (ABCA) members know that safety comes first on the water. Certain ABCA members are certified to perform Coast Guard–authorized vessel safety examinations. ABCA Vessel Safety Examiners are trained to ensure that all legally required and Coast Guard-recommended safety equipment is on board, accessible and functional, and that the boat’s mechanical systems operate in a safe manner. ABCA offers basic boating safety courses to the public. These courses, approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA), provide the basics in safe boating operation. The courses are offered in a variety of formats and locations throughout the year. The national organization of America’s Boating Club and its local affiliates have offered these courses for over half a century and have educated more than 3 million boaters to date. Successfully completing an ABCA boating safety course meets the educational requirements for boat operation in all states. New ABCA members are expected to complete the boating safety course within the first year of membership. Many insurers offer discounts to customers who have passed this course.
