Smart Boating will be Safe Boating!
America’s Boating Club Atlanta (ABCA) members believe that knowing your boat and how to operate and maintain it is the key to a good boating experience. To this end, ABCA offers the most extensive curriculum of boating courses available in the Atlanta area. The curriculum includes Seamanship, Piloting, Advanced Piloting, Junior Navigation, Navigation, Engine Maintenance, Marine Electronics, Sail, and Cruise Planning. Available to ABCA members and non-members alike, these courses are typically offered in eight to ten sessions on Monday or Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm ET in the Fall and Winter. They are taught by experienced and certified instructors. Most class sessions are online. Most courses are supplemented with one or more hands-on practical sessions scheduled at the convenience of the instructor and students.
ABCA offers on-the-water training to members and non-members. These are small classes with a ratio of not more than 2 students to 1 instructor. Our instructors are licensed captains and/or certified by the national organization as on the water instructors. Courses begin with classroom introduction to skills like getting underway, picking up a mooring ball, handling lines, anchoring, man overboard recovery and docking. This is followed by several hours out on the water executing these skills.
ABCA also offers several seminars on boating-related topics. These seminars, available to the public, provide a good introduction and overview of the subject and include useful resource material.
