Premier Boating Education
America’s Boating Club is the largest recreational boating education organization in the world. Members receive discounts on a complete spectrum of courses and the public is welcome to take classes as well.
Basic Safe Boating – America’s Boating Course 
America’s Boating Course is our basic boater safety program delivered virtually. This state approved boating safety course fulfills GA requirements for boater safety education and is now mandatory for those born after 1 JAN 98 to legally operate a motorized vessel in GA waters. That includes a Personal Watercraft (PWC). Topics include state and federal regulations, safe boat operation, proper fueling practices, water sports, PWC operation, trailering, adverse conditions, anchoring and more. All students passing the course exam receive a certificate, wallet card and GA DNR registration. ABCA uses certified instructors. Some insurance companies offer discounts for boaters who have completed this course. The online dialog and interaction with other students reinforces the material and creates a more worthwhile learning experience than a self-paced online course. Advanced Classes
America’s Boating Club Atlanta (ABCA) offers the most extensive curriculum of boating courses available in the Atlanta area. The curriculum includes:
- Boat Handling
- Marine and Advanced Marine Navigation
- Offshore and Celestial Navigation
- Engine Maintenance
- Sail
- Marine Electrical Systems
- Marine Communications
- Cruise Planning
- Weather
Available to ABCA members and non-members alike, these courses are typically offered in eight to ten sessions on Monday or Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm ET in the Fall and Winter. They are taught by experienced and certified instructors. Most class sessions are online. Most courses are supplemented with one or more hands-on practical sessions scheduled at the convenience of the instructor and students. On The Water Training
ABCA offers on-the-water training to members and non-members. These are small classes with a ratio of not more than 2 students to 1 instructor. Our instructors are licensed captains and/or certified by the national organization as on the water instructors. Courses begin with classroom introduction to skills like getting underway, picking up a mooring ball, handling lines, anchoring, man overboard recovery and docking.
